Swimming with Nurse Sharks in the Bahamas!

Writer's picture: Mary-Ashley McDanielMary-Ashley McDaniel

This was a unique experience that is a must while in the Bahamas! We took an all day speed boat tour that included 5 other stops. We went to Iguana Island, Pig Island, secluded island for lunch, Compass Cay to swim with the nurse sharks, drove by Pablo Escobar’s sunken plane, and hung out at a sand bar.

The only down side is it’s a long ride, but it’s easily worth it for the amazing views, great crew, good music, and unforgettable experience! I would recommend bringing your own snorkels because there weren’t any on the boat when we went, and it made swimming with the sharks even better with being able to be under water with them! Also, don’t be afraid of the nurse sharks biting you. Their teeth are actually located at the back of their throat, so as long as they don’t suck your arm up, you will be fine!

Lunch, drinks (non-alcoholic & alcoholic), and hotel pick up and drop off were included.
